University League 2018 summer tour

by Kay Jarvis-Sladky, UWRA Member and University League Publicity Chair

On June 27, at 8:30 a.m., come with us by bus to Fort Atkinson for docent-led explorations of the fascinating culture of Native Americans of the Late Woodland period.

First, we’ll travel to the Hoard Historical Museum for a tour of an immersive exhibit called “Mysteries of the Mounds.” Then we’ll drive by the Panther Intaglio— a “reverse” effigy mound and the only surviving complete intaglio in North America. Next we’ll head to Jefferson County Indian Mounds and Trail Park, where there’s a trail through the woods that includes eleven effigy mounds. (Those who prefer to relax in the park are welcome to do so.)

Finally, we’ll have lunch at Brock’s Riverwalk Tavern and Grill with a lovely view of the Rock River, returning about 3:00 p.m. The fee of $40 includes lunch; the deadline for reservations is June 18.

For more information and to download your reservation form, please visit univleague.wisc.edu/program.htm. University League members have preference until June 8; then reservations are open to all. Membership in the League is open to all!

UWRA is committed to creating an inclusive environment where every member feels a sense of belonging, and where we appreciate and celebrate each other's abilities, views, and accomplishments.
