Morning Program:    We are featuring and supporting the Goodman Community Center, its catering program for teens, and the Fritz Food Pantry. Sam McDaniel and Terese Allen is presenting "How to Feed a World: From Food Drives to Community Meals at the Goodman Center Food Pantry".   Where does all the food come from? How does everything get organized? Who unloads the trucks, stacks the shelves, peels the potatoes. What are the stories of people they serve?

Sam McDaniel is the Fritz Food pantry manager and describes the air-traffic control-like nature of his operation and the impact it has on the community. Volunteer chef Terese Allen shares how she gets creative with donated foods to prepare meals for pantry participants.

Following their talk, attendees will have a tour of the food pantry.

Luncheon Speaker:    Stuart Levitan has been a mainstay of Madison media and government since 1975. An award-winning print and broadcast journalist, he has written extensively for local and national programs on radio and television. A former county supervisor, he is the only person in Madison history to chair all three of the city's primary land use and housing committees. Since 1987, he has also been a labor mediator/arbitrator for the State of Wisconsin.

Stuart's illustrated talk “Gown and Town in Changing Times: The UW and Madison in the Sixties” is adapted from his new book, "Madison in the Sixties” (WHS Press), on the University of Wisconsin and its impact on the city during the 1960's.
