See MLK Symposium Event

Registration is now open for the Martin Luther King Jr. Symposium featuring keynote speaker and renowned author Isabel Wilkerson.

This year's virtual event will take place Monday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. CST to coincide with the start of classes. The event is free and open to the public.

Wilkerson is a National Humanities Medal and Pulitzer Prize winner known for her bestselling books "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents" (2020) and "The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration" (2010).

Her writing focuses on how the history of Black people in America can help everyone understand the issues Black people still experience in the United States today. She has been recognized for her unique ability to bring life to historical events and connect them to American hierarchy today.

The annual MLK Symposium is co-sponsored by Student Affairs and the Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement, this year in partnership with the Wisconsin Union Theater.
