Representatives from the Dane County Department of Human Service Area Agency on Aging will help you to understand how to navigate the Aging Network of services for older adults in Dane County.  This information is vital to understanding how to access services and supports you may need in retirement. The presenters will share a broad overview of the aging services system, the vast array of services available, the entry points for accessing these services, and opportunities for you to stay actively engaged on every level throughout retirement.

During the second part of this workshop, the Manager of the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Dane County will present an overview of ADRC services and resources at the beginning, middle, and end of your retirement journey. Your local ADRC is the single-entry point for publicly funded Long Term Care.  Staff at the ADRC are able to explain the functional and financial eligibility for these publicly funded programs.  You will leave with a better understanding of where to start your journey.

Angela Velasquez is the Division Administrator for Disability & Aging Services for the Department of Human Services of Dane County. Prior to August 2022, she served as the Aging Program Specialist in the Area Agency on Aging of Dane County, with primary responsibility for Older American Act funded programs to include Senior Nutrition, Healthy Aging and Caregiver Support.

Sridevi Mohan is the Manager for the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of Dane County. Before joining the AAA, she worked as an Epidemiologist/Aging lead at Public Health Madison & Dane County. Sridevi's 15+ year career can be split between academia and public health, with a broad background in research, evaluation, aging, community engagement, and health & racial equity.

Jennifer Fischer is the Manager of the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Dane County. She has held this position since the ADRC opened in 2012.  Prior to working at the ADRC, Jennifer was the Supervisor of the Long-Term Support Unit for Dane County. This unit manages Long Term Care services for older adults and people with physical disabilities in Dane County.
