After a successful career with the Madison Metropolitan School District, Paul Swanson took over the management of preparing Free Income Tax sites in Dane County. The Free Income tax services were designed to assist older adults, low to middle income earners and students. Under Paul’s leadership, the volunteer tax preparers receive intensive training on the Federal and Wisconsin Income Tax Laws, the tax preparation, and interviewing the taxpayer for the purpose of providing accurate and selecting the best strategy possible. After the income tax preparation is completed, it is audited by an independent tax preparer, it is jointly reviewed by the tax preparer and tax-payer and electronically forwarded to the appropriate taxing authority.

Paul’s presentation will address the current tax issues facing retiree’s including the special tax laws initiated during the very difficult COVID time.

If you have preliminary questions for the speaker, please send to Program Coordinators Jack Sorenson at jwsoren1@gmail.com and Tim Norris at tim.norris @wisc.edu, by Monday, November 7.
